There has been some talk recently about returning Crossfire to the map pool. People commonly cite how the removal of mines and limits on deployables (e.g. turrets and force fields) would either mitigate or eliminate one of the main reasons Crossfire was removed from the rotation, which was loading the flag stand with deployables with a heavy D stack. Opponents cite the domination snipers have on the map. I presume there has been discussion on this in the private section, but not for house-league teams/free agents. Furthermore, please correct me if I'm wrong on anything as I did not witness the discussions that removed Crossfire from the map pool in the first place.
Respondents are encouraged to make a reply stating their reasoning to improve discourse on the topic.

here is what i posted in the pro boards:
definitely think xf should be scrimmed between evenly matched teams before a decision is made. deployables were never what ruined that map. it was above all sniper ability to own the map, followed by raised base and favorable respawns for defense.

I always remembered VeX vs. ePi and ePi's turret and FF splurge on XF as a reason, but thanks for the correction. Given sniper visibility, I think some fog would help...

I think snipers would be less less powerful on xfire now than arx due to low vis routes and rock bounces. Now that we dont have rage the exit sniping is far less powerful, and the fast returns would encourage cluster play if the sniper can only kill the carrier a bit after then exit the stand.

if xf had some fog it might help some, but snipes pregrab remain a huge problem on that map as cappers get spotted as they leave base.

It seems that xf will need dx-like fog and maybe some more offense-friendly spawns. Most likely map changes will be required before it is brought back into comp, but it would be a good idea to see how it's been played in EUTL because the Europeans never removed the map from the rotation.

I'd like to see this retried, especially now that rock bouncing is back.
I play LO/cap, so presumably I'm the sort of person that banning Xfire is meant to make happy. But I'd much rather play Xfire and get stomped by a sent than have to play Blueshit.

We would need either thick fog or ban sentinel on XF along with deployables.

The former most likely wont happen, and the later would lead to an extremely weird meta game for that map.

Then the only other option would to increase falloff to such a degree that a cross map shot does no more than 55 damage from full energy/charge. Why 55? It would allow a shot to occur while still allowing a capper to use all their nitrons/discs/whatever to get up to speed with Egocentric. 2 explosive nitrons leave a PTH with 56hp remaining.

The problem isnt the damage, its the spots.

The only way to counter that is through always having an INF on the sniper, taking him down constantly, unless we find some way to reduce visibility.

But I'd much rather play Xfire and get stomped by a sent than have to play Blueshit. I second this.

The problem is even with rock routes snipers watch you leave spawn. Visibility is a HUGE problem for xfire. Seems about the same as Arx to me, assuming everyone's using low vis setups like this one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=RF-TiHu-trM. I don't think you can actually spot caps leaving the ship unless the capper is sloppy on xfire. Pretty sure you can only spot them after they pass the hills on the left and right sides of the ship. But I don't snipe often, so correct me if I'm wrong.
